Skating Federation Lines Up Tournament In Nakuru

The Kenya National Skating Federation has lined up the first skating tournament of the year in Nakuru  on the 9th of April 2017. This is one among the many tournaments the federation will organize as they prepare skaters for the world Championships later in the year.

The federation will hold a qualifier event  in June this year to select skaters that will represent the country at the world championships in China later on in September this year.

Speaking to Kenyanstar in an exclusive interview for the Kenyanstar of The week Column, National Speed Skating Coach, Fred Otieno, has appealed to the Government to support the federation efforts in preparing the team for the World Championships.

“Last year we went to Germany for the BMW marathon with very little finances and no support at all from the Government.  Despite that, we posted impressive results so I’m sure if the government were to support us it will go a long way.” Said Otieno.

“We have already submitted our funding proposal to the ministry of sports and we are hoping that the outcome will be positive.” He added.

The full transcript of the Interview with Fredrick Otieno will be published on Kenyanstar later in the week.
