“There is real class in this team,” those are the words of Kakamega Homeboyz coach Mike Mururi following their 2-1 win over Thika United on Saturday September 9 in Mumias.
The hosts fell behind in the 39th minute after Eugene Mukangula found the back of the net for Thika. Moses Mudavadi however made the scores level in the 77th minute before Francis Nambute completed the comeback with a goal in the 89th minute for Homeboyz’ ninth win of the season.
“My players were very well coordinated. The passing between the defenders and midfielders was very fluid and that is how we managed to beat Thikza. Coming from behind and winning against a quality side and terrible weather – half the match was played under heavy downpour – shows there is real class in this team and we just need to believe in ourselves,” said Mururi.
The victory takes Homeboyz to third place on the table standings, their best position yet this season with 37 points and will be seeking to further cement the spot when they take on Western Stima on Wednesday September 13.
