GoTV: Sharks, Homeboyz Progress After Registering Wins

Kariobangi Sharks and Kakamega Homeboyz progressed to Round of 32 of the GoTV Shield Cup after recording wins in their respective matches played on Saturday July 8, 2017.

Kariobangi Sharks vs Kenpoly

A 2-0 win over Nairobi Regional League side Kenpoly at the Kenyatta Stadium was enough to hand Sharks a ticket to the next round of the competition.

Gambian striker Ebrimmah Sanneh took Sharks in front in the 18th minute, leaving several Kenpoly defenders helpless to niche the ball home. Kenpoly almost leveled the scored in the 25th minute but an angled header by Kamuzi Banda failed to find the target.

In the 66th minute, Sharks got their second courtesy of Steven Odhiambo, who took a precise free kick to seal the win for the KPL side.

Kakamega Homeboyz vs Zetech

At the Mumias Sports Complex, Kakamega came out with a hard fought 1-0 win over Zetech. Francis Nambute scored the all-important goal in the 65th minute, using his pace to get past Zetech defenders to score. They are now among the last sixteen teams who will battle it out for the GoTV Shield Cup.
