Aswani’s Brace Edges Homeboyz, Thika Holds Stima In Kisumu

Kepha Aswani’s brace in the second half rallied Nakumatt FC to a 2-1 win over Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday October 15 at the Mumias Sports Complex.

Wycliffe Opondo beat keeper Ezekiel Owade in a one on one situation in the 40th minute to take Homeboyz into the break leading.

Kepha Aswain then cancelled the hosts’ lead ten minutes after the restart following a poor clearance by Homeboyz defender. The former AFC Leopards talisman then completed the interesting  comeback for the visitors in the additional minutes, tapping in from close range to secure all three points for the shoppers.

The victory comes as a relief for Anthony Mwangi’s men who had endured for five straight matches without a win. It is also the second successive loss for the Homeboyz side who were initially on a ten-match winless streak.

Western Stima vs Thika United

At the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Western Stima and Thika United stuck to first leg’s result after playing o to a 1-1 draw.

 Eugene Mukangula bolted to Shami Kibwana’s cross to fire past keeper Otieno Stephen in the 40th minute to take the visitors 1-0 up. Their lead was however cancelled in the second half by Robert Achema, who successfully converted a penalty after he was fouled inside the box.

The draw takes the two teams’ points to 28, but Thika sit just above Western Stima as a result of superior goal difference.
