Arsene Wenger has stated that he is yet to decide whether to hand new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan his Arsenal debut in Tuesday’s league clash against Swansea City
The Armenia international completed a swap deal to Arsenal from Manchester United on Monday evening as Alexis Sanchez finalised a switch to Old Trafford from The Emirates.
Mkhitaryan struggled to leave his imprint on Manchester United during an 18 month spell at the 20-time English champions following a £30m switch from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
The playmaker scored some important goals during his brief spell at the Red Devils, including his strike in a 2-0 win over Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final in Stockholm in May.
Arsenal won’t take part in the FA Cup fourth round this weekend following a 4-2 loss to Championship side Nottingham Forest earlier this month.
Mkhitaryan could make his Arsenal debut against Swansea City in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Asked when Wenger intends to start the Armenian midfielder for the first time in Arsenal’s number seven shirt, the Gunners boss told a news conference on Friday morning:
“I haven’t decided that yet. We will certainly decide that on Monday, he’s available like everyone else, so yes.”
