Gerard Deulofeu has joined English side Watford from FC Barcelona on loan till the end of the season. The 23-year-old is eligible to play a part against Stoke City on Wednesday evening having completed his move before Tuesday’s midday deadline.
The loan however does not include an option to buy. Deulofeu is said to prefer joining Watford as the club guarantee him a chance to become a starter.
Their new coach, Javi Gracia, is thought to be a fan of the player, and the club wanted him to join as soon as possible.
Deulofeu had previously played in the Premier League for Everton. He’s also no stranger to loans, having played at Everton, Sevilla, and AC Milan on loan.
He had made his return to Barcelona earlier this season as the Catalans activated a buy-back clause, but he has so far failed to establish himself as a starter at the Camp Nou.
“Watford FC is delighted to confirm the loan signing of forward Gerard Deulofeu from FC Barcelona until the end of the season,” read a statement on the club’s website.
