Thika United will on Thursday December 21, 2017 host Ushuru FC in the first leg of the KPL promotion/ relegation playoff at the Thika Sub-County Stadium.
The date was set following the dismissal of Thika United’s petition seeking halt the playoff fixtures. In the dismissal ruling, the Sports Disputes Tribunal through chair John Ohaga stated that, “The upshot of the foregoing is that the application and the petition are dismissed.”
Ohaga further directed Thika United to meet the costs of the respondents (Ushuru)and the interested party on a full indemnity basis. The Nicholas Muyoti coached side had earlier obtained temporary orders stopping the play off initially det for December 10 and 13, but the same have since been vacated.
After the first leg on Thursday, the two sides will head to the Narok Stadium where they will face off in the second leg on Sunday December 24, 2017.
Ushuru FC qualified for the playoffs by virtue of finishing third in the 2017 National Super League (NSL) while Thika United earned a date with the mentioned after finishing 16th in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
