Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Tusker FC have confirmed parting ways with five key players following the expiry of their contracts, which the club stating that their contracts won’t be renewed.
The four are captain James Situma, striker Allan Wanga, Humphyre Mieno, Stephen Owusu and Cercidy Okeyo. This comes as a shock as most of these players were key to the Brewers winning the 2016 KPL title.
They now join the other nine who had initially been let go on mutual consent including Anthony Ndolo, George Mandela, Moses Ndawula, Victor Ndinya, Luis Tera, Danson Kago, Noah Wafula, Martin Kizza and Clifford Alwanga.
The Brewers are seeking an overhaul to the team in a bid to competitively fight in the 2018 season after a 2017 campaign that saw them finish sixth overall with 50 points, 24 adrift of eventual winners Gor Mahia FC.
The club began the changes even before the end of the season by sacking head coach George Nsimbe and elevating his assistant Francis Baraza to fill the vacant position.
