Nduati, Dubois lift 2016 Kenya Open Pro-Am

Frenchman Edouard Dubois and Kenyan amateur Patrick Nduati won the 2016 Pro-Am golf tournament at par 72 Karen Country Club. The duo fired an impressive score of nine-under par 63 to secure Euros 600 (Sh67, 800) prize money in the four ball stableford contest.

Frenchman Edouard Dubois and Kenyan amateur Patrick Nduati won the 2016 Pro-Am golf tournament at par 72 Karen Country Club. The duo fired an impressive score of nine-under par 63 to secure Euros 600 (Sh67, 800) prize money in the four ball stableford contest.

“This is great. I feel honored to be counted among champions this year. What granted us the victory was the team effort we placed during the contest,” Nduati said at the prize giving ceremony on Tuesday night.

Four teams were tied in second place with a score of eight-under par 64. They are the team of Swede professional golfer Gabriel Axell and Maurice Gitari, Kenyan professional Riz Charania and Waweru Thuku, Swiss professional golfer Benjamin Rusch and Humphrey Maina and the team of Swede Pontus Widegren and Kenya Open Golf Limited chairman Peter Kanyago.

All the professional golfers in these teams bagged Euros 350 (Sh39, 500) each. Three other teams tied in sixth place with a score of seven-under par 65 including the team of Italian professional golfer Lorenzo Gagli and Peter Harris, Kenya professional golfer Brian Njoroge and Daniel Mwambu and South African professional golfer Jacques Blaauw and George Kiraithe.

The professional golfers in these teams bagged Euros 83.33 (Sh10, 000) each. The two-day tournament ended yesterday. The Pro-Am, where amateur golfers get opportunities to play alongside established professionals, acts as a curtain raiser to the Kenya Open championship that tees off at the venue today
