With the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal fans have been treated to more great news following the extension of contract by playmaker Mesut Ozil.
According to David Orstein of the BBC, Ozil has put pen to paper a new three-and-a-half year deal which will see him at the Emirates Stadium until the summer of 2021. The contract is set to make him the highest-paid player in club history on around £350,000 per week before tax.
The German international signed from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 for a then club record fee of £42.5m. His future has been up in the air for some time, and with less than 6 months of his cirrent deal remaining he’s been free to discuss a contract with clubs abroad since January 1st.
The 29-year-old has however decided to pledge the best remaining years of his career to the Gunners.
The World Cup winner has scored 36 goals in 182 appearances for Arsenal so far, helping the club to three FA Cup trophies in the process.
This is great news for Arsenal fans especially after a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Swansea on Tuesday night.
