Defending champions Telkom finished the first leg of the Kenya Hockey Union women’s Premier League with a perfect record after humiliating Kenyatta University Titans 9-0 on Saturday July 22 at the City Park Stadium.
Telkom, who had won nine of their last matches, moved five points clear of second-placed USIU who currently have 25 points.
Audrey Omaido finished the match with a hat-trick to take her season’s goal tally to 18 while Jackline Mwangi and Betsy Omalla each bagged a brace. With a goal each, Maureen Okumu and Lillian Aura summed up the 9-0 riot over the students to cap off an excellent first leg for Telkom.
USIU Reclaim Second Spot
United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Spartans also recorded a huge win on Sunday July 23, thrashing UoN 6-0 to reclaim the second spot of the women’s Premier League table.
Rhoda Kuira and Sheila Nnazi each scored a brace while Acriphyna Mosoi and skipper Beatrice Mbugua added one each to take their point tally to 25 with the emphatic win.
Amira Overpower Sliders
In another match on Sunday, goals from Leah Omwadho, Yvette Kanyandong and Pauline Naise inspired Amira to a 3-1 win over Sliders at the City Park. Charity Miller’s consolation goal for Sliders in the 48th minute could not however stir her team to a comeback.
