Three Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches are scheduled to take p-lace on Wednesday October 11, with one of the fixtures pitting struggling defending champions Tusker FC against Kariobangi Sharks.
Tusker v Kariobangi Sharks (Ruaraka Grounds, 3pm)
After three weeks of rest, Tusker get back to action against Kariobangi Sharks at the Ruaraka Grounds, with both sides seeking wins. The two clubs trail each other on the league table standings, the Brewers placed 5th with 42 points while Sharks sit two points behind them at sixth.
While Sharks have not won any of their last four matches, Tusker have registered three wins in similar number of games and will be going for another one today which might uplift them upto the third position.
Sharks welcome back forwards Masoud Juma and Patilla Omotto who missed their team’s barren draw with AFC Leopards owing to international duty. Boniface Muchiri is the only returnee for the defending champions.
The first leg clash ended in a 0-0 draw.
Western Stima v Nakumatt (Moi Stadium, 3pm)
Western Stima invite Nakumatt FC at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu with only a victory on their mind. Placed second from bottom on the log with 26 points, the three points at stake today will be very crucial for Stima as they plan on evading the relegation axe.
They will however be encouraged by their 2-1 win over Bandari during the weekend where Achema and Villa’s goals gave coach Richard Makumbi ‘s first win since taking over as the tactician.
Nakumatt, at the heart of a four match winless run, will turn to striker Kepha Aswani for comfort as they eye a return to the top half of the league table. The striker has currently netted ten times and a goal for him today will see him join Ulinzi’s Stephen Waruru and Umaru Kasumba of Sofapaka at the helm of top scorer’s list.
Nakumatt stunned Stima 2-0 in their first leg match in Nairobi on April 22.
Zoo Kericho v Nzoia Sugar (Kericho Green Stadium, 3pm)
Zoo Kericho will be chasing their second straight victory when they host Nzoia United at the Zoo Kericho Stadium from 15:00. The Kericho based side condemned Kakamega Homeboyz to their first loss in ten games last weekend courtesy of Danson Chetambe’s lone strike.
Both sides will be missing a player each, Nzoia’s lead striker Masita Masuta having been ruled out with an ankle injury while keeper Vincent Misikhu will be absent for Zoo after accumulating five yellow cards.
The two teams settled for a one-all draw in their first leg tie.
