Kakamega High School and St Mary’s Yala are among the six schools that will represent Kenya in the rugby category in this year’s East Africa Secondary School Games (EASSG) to be held in Uganda from August 14 to August 27.
The six teams will represent the country in rugby 15s and 7s, with each category having three representatives.
The 15s category has Kakamega High School, St Mary’s Yala and Upper Hill School. Kakamega High School qualified after retaining the title courtesy of an 18-14 win over Laiser Hill, who had the most valuable player in the 15s category by the name of Kennedy Nzilu. Upper Hill consequently qualified as runners-up, with St Mary’s going as number three.
Kenya will be represented in the 7s category by Menengai High School, Chavakali and Muhuri Muchiri Boys High School. Menengai won the KSSSA rugby sevens title after a hard-fought 7-5 win over Chavakali High in the National Secondary Schools Terms Two A Games. Chavakali qualified as runners-up while Muhuri Muchiri will go as number three.
