Chase Bank sponsored Amira are sweating over the availability of star forward Pauline Naise as they prepare for a crunch match against her former side USIU-A in the Ladies Hockey Premier League this Saturday(3rd June) at the City Park Stadium from 2pm.
Naise was taken ill in a training session on Sunday and has not trained with the team since then.
Third placed Chase Amira will be betting on Naise's availability to boost their chances of a win against the second placed USIU-A, a win that will see them leapfrog the students on the log.
Both teams were in fine shape not losing a match in the month of May but while the students won all their three matches, the bankers won two and settled for a draw in the third.
In another ladies match on Saturday, Fourth placed Strathmore have a chance to go second if they can beat MSC but this is on condition that the match between USIU-A and Chase Amira ends in a draw. MSC lost two and drew one of their three matches in May while Strathmore played two winning one and settling for a draw in the second.
On Sunday, leaders Orange Telkom coming fresh from a heavy 8-0 win against sliders will play 5th placed JKUAT. Orange Telkom will be at Full strength with the return from Injury of Midfield player Lilian Aura and forward Audrey Omaido. JKUAT, who are admittedly clear underdogs in this pair up, will hope to be at their best when they play a Jos Openda side whose target is to win the league without conceding a goal.
In the final ladies premier league match of the weekend, Sliders will seek to put behind their embarrassing 8-0 loss to Orange Telkom when they play students from Kenyatta University. Sliders Just like their Sunday opponents, KU, have not been on a particularly good run with both teams having lost all their three matches in May.
In the men’s Premier League, Green Sharks and Butali Sugar Warriors have the chance to cut down runaway leaders Kenya Police’s lead to single digits as the law enforcers will not be in action this weekend.
Green Sharks are placed second on 20 points, which is 10 less than Kenya Police. Butali Sugar are third on 19 points. Green Sharks, who finished fourth last season, will tackle United States International University-Africa.
