Kenyan Premier League leaders Tusker FC were on Friday July 14th handed a frustrating 1-0 defeat by bottom-placed Western Stima to miss a glorious chance of reclaiming the top spot of the table. Stima had gone into the match having won only one match in their last thirteen while Tusker had won three games in a row.
28 minutes into his debut, Ugandan international Godfrey Villa Oromochan managed to break the Tusker defense and score to take Western Stima 1-0 up. Tusker then started frantically searching for an equalizer, with David Mwangi and Khamati's headers going way off the mark to take the two teams into half time with Stima leading.
In the second half, George Nsimbe decided to ring an early change in the attack by bringing in Clifford Alwanga for Jackson Macharia in the 49th minute. Duncan Ochieng spared Tusker more blushes in the 53rd minute by producing a superb save to deny the home team a second goal that would have been very disastrous to the Brewers.
John Oruko replaced Ezekiel Otuoma in Stima's first substitution of the game as Henry Omino sought to freshen up the attack and seal the victory with another goal. Tusker also threw in Allan Wanga and Abdul Hassan for Khamati and Mwangi late on in a frenzied effort to salvage even a point from Kisumu. Dunco was the man again to their rescue in the 84th minute with another beautiful save to deny Stima another goal. The Brewers camped in the opponent's box in the additional minutes but were unable to find the back of the net, bowing out in a frustrating 1-0defeat.
