Egypt’s U-20 national team defeated Kenya in a warm-up game for the U-20 African Cup of Nations, which will be held in Zambia from February 26 to March 12.
The Pharaoh’s U-20 team dominated the first-half of the game, with Kenya having only one dangerous chance and the Egyptians turned their dominance into goals when Petrojet’s Ahmed Mostafa won a penalty, which was scored by Karim Nedved, in the 20th minute.
In the 33rd-minute Al Ahly’s Ahmed Hamdy doubled Egypt’s lead, before Zamalek loanee Mostafa Mohamed scored Egypt’s third goal of the game, ending the first-half 3-0.
The young Pharaohs had a solid lead at the half-time break, but the Kenyans made a comeback in the second-half as Ovellah Ochieng scored in the 50th minute to pull one back for the visitors.
Eight minutes later, Ahmed Mostafa received a second yellow, forcing the Egyptians to continue the game with 10 players.
Kenya dominated the second-half, as Ovellah managed to score Kenya’s second and final goal of the game in the 84th minute, ending the game 3-2 to Egypt.
