Gor Must Now Play Romantic Football

Several groups on Facebook that are aligned to Kenyan football can crack your ribs if you have the time to go through the jungle of posts and comments. Reports leaked before Gor Mahia’s midweek match against Thika United last week that Rwandan import Jaques Tuyisenge would miss the match due to injury.

An AFC Leopards’ fan posted that it is foolish of Gor Mahia who bought a top of the range model of Range Rover that is ever in the parking lot. One comment on the post generated all sorts of clean, dirty, dry and wet humour. A K’ogallo fan retorted that a Range Rover is a car a man only takes out to impress and chase ladies. It is a car that is driven with intent and only a fool will take it on an aimless ride.

Tuyisenge somehow managed to shake off the knock and play in the match where he confirmed that if you see him on the pitch, Gor is truly ‘chwor timbe”. He scored two goals as Gor beat Thika United 2-1 after scoring a goal in his debut against Kakamega Homeboyz a few days earlier. The Rwandese import has not disappointed and for sure he is top of the range talent that Gor will not use aimlessly. He missed the next match against Ushuru on Sunday and Gor played to a barren draw.

Romantic Football

FC Barcelona was known to play high possession football that some pundits christened ‘romantic’ during the tenure of Pep Guardiola. They still play some good football but current coach Luis Enrique has specks of pragmatism where some matches are won without beautiful play.

With the current Brazillian Coach de Maria in charge at Gor, a touch of Samba will spice up Gor to play romantic football now that they have a seductive car in Tuyisenge. Flirtious passes, smooth transitions and scintillating runs against every blade of grass on the pitch will justify the lurid talks from fans. The fans will fall head over heels in love with such play.

When a man is in love and chasing a woman, nothing is left to chance. You will see men borrow cars from friends to impress. I am yet to see the paperwork to prove the $ 40,000 was indeed paid for Tuyisenge when Kagere was released for demanding a similar amount. I know men can be envious, so let me stick to my job.

Meanwhile, the hot air talk on social media will remain just that if nothing is done to make it a reality on the pitch. We need to see some good football to justify the new tag line on Tuyisenge. The next time you see a man in debt driving a Range Rover, know that a beautiful game is being chased.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, the AS Monaco midfielder, is ready to turn down Chelsea for Manchester United provided Jose Mourinho’s club qualifies for the UEFA Champions League.

Bakayoko has been one of Monaco’s key figures in midfield in a season that could end with Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League glory in the Principality.

The 22-year-old made his France debut in the 2-0 friendly defeat to Spain on March 28 at Stade de France in Paris.

Chelsea was reported to be leading the chase to sign Bakayoko but now the Manchester Evening News has claimed United could steal in.

Mourinho has missed a true defensive midfielder this season that would allow world-record £89.2 million signing Paul Pogba attacking freedom.

But Bakayoko, whose Monaco team beat Manchester City in March to reach the Champions League quarterfinals, reportedly wants to play in the same competition next season.

Chelsea is all but assured of Champions League football next season but United faces a battle, needing to overhaul Liverpool, which it trails by four points for the final qualifying place via the Premier League. Mourinho’s side could also make it by winning the UEFA Europa League, where it faces Anderlecht in the quarterfinal.

Bale and Ronaldo both played as Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1 yesterday. Goals from Karim Benzema and Casemiro strengthened their grip on the La Liga title.

However, despite the victory, all is not well at the Santiago Bernabeu. Spanish outlet Diario Gol claimed yesterday that Ronaldo was fuming with Zinedine Zidane for substituting him late on.

The former Manchester United star provided the assist for Benzema's goal but was replaced by Isco in the 79th minute. It was said that Ronaldo believed Bale should have been substituted instead after an abject display.

But Diario Gol claim Bale was also angry after the game. The former Tottenham star's stock is rising in Spain after helping Madrid win the Champions League twice in the past three years. And the Wales international reportedly believes Ronaldo is preventing him from becoming the club's main man.

Bale has to play on the left wing due to Ronaldo's desire to play further up the field. He feels that Zidane is making a mistake by deploying him in that position as he prefers to play on the right, where he can cut inside.
