Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia have completed the signing of Nzoia Sugar midfielder Lawrence Juma, who joins the club on a three-year deal that will expire in December 2020.
The signing is seen as a replacement for Kenneth Muguna who is understood to be ever closer to joining Albanian giants KF Tirana. Tirana have been chasing the former Western Stima ace’s signature for a while since appointing ex-Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira as the club manager.
This past week, several media sources have claimed that Tirana Chief Executive Officer Hector Como has been in the country to hastily finalize the deal, which will see the player sign a four-year contract for a record transfer fee for Gor Mahia.
Juma joins Ko’galo having amassed eight goals and nine assists in the 2017 season, the highest statistics of any Nzoia player this campaign. His key contribution at the middle of the pack helped the sugar millers to a ninth place finish with 44 points from 34 matches.
He was also named in the provisional Harambee Stars squad for the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup but unfortunately faced the axe from the final contigent.
