France Come From Behind To Beat Kenya In Their Opening Fixture

Kenya squandered a 14-0 lead in their opening 2017 Cape town Sevens match to go down 21-14 to France on Saturday December 9, 2017 at the Cape Town Stadium.

After maintaining a majority share of possession in the opening minutes, Kenya registered their first try in the 5th minute through Samuel Oliech, who then proceeded to convert it for a 7-0 lead.

Brian Tanga then took Kenya 14-0 up just before the break after receiving a well-calculated pass from Willy Ambaka.

France would however come into the second half guns blazing, Jean Baptiste Mazoure touching down his side’s first before Pascal Baraque followed it up with a try of his own just a minute later.

France then sealed off the vital win with a try from Stephen Parez, who intercepted Brian Tanga’s pass in Kenya’s half to race down the try line unchallenged.

Shujaa’s next match will be against Russia at 16: 48 before winding up their Group A fixtures with a clash against hosts South Africa at 20:56.
