The COPA Coca-Cola Under-16 tournament games continues this week with regional finals set to take from 14th June 2018 to 17th June 2018 across the country.
The boys and girls tournament will be played across all eight regions with teams seeking a chance to fill eight slots in the national finals set to take place in Eldoret between 20th July 2018 and 29th July 2018.
In the Capital City, the finals will be staged in Lenana School from 14th June till 16th June 2018. In the boy’s category, the defending champions Upper Hill High School will battle it out against Eastleigh High School, with Highway Secondary School squaring it out with Uhuru Secondary School. Dagoretti High School will compete against the hosts Lenana High School with Sunshine Secondary School playing against Olympic Secondary School.
In the girl’s category, Olympic Secondary School will start their regional title defense against Dandora Girls Secondary Schools, St. Martins Secondary School playing against Embakasi Girls Secondary School with Dagoretti Mixed Secondary School battling with Kariobangi North Secondary School. The last quarter final match will be Kenya High School against Mwangaza High School.
In Nyanza region at Cardinal Otunga High School on 14th -16th June 2018, the teams will be grouped into two, with two teams progressing to the Semi-Final stage. In the boy’s category, last year regional finalists Barding High School have been grouped with Mbita High School and Riyabe Secondary School in Group A. In Group B, last year’s regional champions Kisumu Day Secondary School have been grouped with Ugari Secondary School and Marindi Secondary School.
In the girl’s category, there will be new regional champions as Nyakach Secondary School having not made it to the knock-out stages. In Group A, Kobala Secondary School have been pooled together with Sironga Girls Secondary Schools and Magadi Secondary School. In Group B, Sega Secondary Schools will compete against Kadika Secondary School and Moteiribe Secondary School.
In the Central region, schools will converge at Muranga Teachers Training College while in Mombasa the finals will be staged at Kwale High School. Rift Valley Regional finals will be staged at Moi Girls High School – Eldoret while in the Eastern region they will be staged at Kitui School.
Stakes will be high in Western Region at St. Peter’s Mumias as last year’s national Champions Kakamega High School will be seeking to defend their regional glory in the championship.
All matches of the seven regions will be played from 14th June to 17th June 2018.
The North Eastern Finals will be staged at Sabunley Secondary School in Wajir from 18th July to 22nd July 2018.
The tournament is played under the Ministry of Education, in partnership with Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) and The Coca-Cola Company.
