IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships Rome 2016

The 100-day countdown has begun for the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships Rome 2016 on 7-8 May. It will be the fourth time that the competition has been held in Italy. Varese and Pescara hosted the second and third editions of the event in 1963 and 1965 respectively, while Turin staged the competition in 2002.

Elite runners gear up for Dubai Marathon 2016

This year’s edition of the annual Dubai Marathon on the coming Friday, January 22nd, will see a number of elite runners from Ethiopia and Kenya at the start while the entire event consisting of the Marathon run, the 10 kilometer’s run and the 4 kilometer fun run will gather over 30,000 professional and hobby participants at the foot of the seven-star hotel Burj Al Arab.

Latest Rio 2016 Timetable Published

Following approval by the IAAF Council, and acceptance by the International Olympic Committee and the Local Organising Committee, there has been a change to the athletics timetable for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. An updated timetable has been published on the IAAF website.

IAAF Slam Doping Allegations by ARD

The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has described the allegations of doping published by The Sunday Times and ARD as ‘sensationalist and confusing’. The IAAF has released a statement saying it was taking the allegations seriously and was investigating them thoroughly. They also said the data on which the reports were based was not ‘secret’ and they published a detailed analysis of this data more than four years ago.

Sum, Kiprop,Yego headline team for World Championships

Ferguson Rotich pipped David Rudisha at the national trials of the 800M on Saturday as Kenya named the squad for Beijing.  Asbel Kiprop and Eunice Sum dominated their fields as the trials held at Kasarani on Saturday saw few surprises. In Marathon, Edna Kiplagat will lead the women’s team that includes Jemima Jelagat, Hella Kiprop and Jepkesho.

Amos pips Rudisha in Switzerland

David Rudisha lost to Botswana’s Nijel Amos in the IAAF Diamond league on Thursday night. Since their first clash at the 2012 Olympics, which Rudisha won, Amos has now won their five other encounters to date. “The race didn’t go as I planned but I am happy with it” said Rudisha. “Now I have to get back to the drawing board and work on my last 100m.”

Rio 2016 Olympics Timetable released

The Rio 2016 Olympics committee has released their timetable which sees many athletics activities finals scheduled for the morning. Rio 2016 Olympic Games will feature finals during the morning sessions of the athletics programme, the IAAF on Monday published the full timetable.
