Kenya registered their first Group A win in the ongoing Cape Town Sevens, seeing off Russia 34-0 on Saturday December 9, 2017 at the Cape Town Stadium.
After being awarded a foul in the first minute of the game, Brian Tanga’s quick thinking got him out-pacing two opponents two record a try but the resultant conversion failed to go in between the sticks.
The Kabras Sugar ace then picked out an unmarked Sammy Oliech in the fifth minute for Kenya’s second try that was duly converted by the scorer.
Willy Ambaka then added himself into the score sheet in the seventh minute with a try on the far left side before notching a second one two minutes later.
In the 11th minute, Substitute Oscar Ayodi scored Kenya’s fifth try of the game before Samuel Ngethe registering his first in the World Rugby Sevens Series to wrap up a 34-0 win for his side.
Up next for Kenya is a match against hosts South Africa at 20:56.
