Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has included Philippe Coutinho in his 19-member squad that is set to take on Espanyol in second leg of their Copa del Rey quarter-final on Thursday at Cam Nou.
Coutinho, who joined the Spanish giants this month from Liverpool for £146million, was given the No. 14 shirt, taking over from Javier Mascherano who is heading for Hebei China Fortune.
He has now been included in Thursday’s squad alongside fellow new signing Yerry Mina who replaces the injured Thomas Vermaelen.
Andrés Iniesta and Paco Alcácer have also been cleared to play and are part of the squad, leaving only Vermaelen and Ousmane Dembélé as the injured players in the group. Denis Suarez and Gerard Deulofeu have been left out per Valverde’s decision.
The LaLiga leaders will be seeking to progress to the semifinals and face a tricky Espanyol side who edged them 1-0 in the first leg a week ago.
