ARS Day Four: It’s Ibinzo Versus Wiyeta In Girls Finals

Rift Valley representatives Wiyeta Girls will face their Western counterparts Ibinzo in the finals of the ongoing  National Secondary School Ball Games in Nyeri. This is after thrashing Njabini 2-0 in the semifinals held on Friday 7 July, 2017.

Wiyeta needed only ten minutes to seal the win against Njabini, with  Gentrix Shikangwa proving the difference between the two sides. Her first goal came in the sixth minute, rising high above to head the ball home from an Eshter Wanyama corner. Three minutes later, Wanyama, who was included in Harambee Starlets U-20 squad  to play Botswana in a 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier scheduled for July 21 this month completed her brace after a mix up in the Njabini defense.

They will now clash with Ibinzo Girls who also eliminated Western representatives Kobala Girls 2-0.

The finals will be a repetition of the opening Pool A match of the competition where Wiyeta overcame Ibinzo 4-2. It is however guaranteed that the finals will be very much different from their last encounter, with both teams seeking to be crowned champions in this year’s tournament. After the group stage thrashing, the finals is a perfect opportunity for Ibinzo to exact revenge on their opponents.
