2017 CECAFA: Zanzibar Reveal Squad For Uganda Tie

Zanzibar head coach Hemed Suleiman Morocco has named his starting lineup that will take on Uganda in the second semifinal of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup on Friday December 15, 2017 at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu. The match kicks off at 15:00.

The coach has duly replaced the duo of forward Suleiman Khamis and midfielder Amour Suleiman “Pwina” who were ruled out of the tie due to injuries. Left-back Mwinyi Haji Ngwali, who is suspended after accumulating two yellow successive yellow cards, has been substituted by Adeyuni Saleh.

Road to semis

Zanzibar have been the surprise package in the tournament so far as not many thought that the team would reach this far. The Heroes kicked off their campaign with a 3-1 win over Rwanda before seeing off their brothers Tanzania 2-1.

They then held hosts Kenya to a barren draw but lost 1-0 to Libya in their final Group A match. The performance saw them finish second in the group and were as a result paired against Uganda in the semifinals.
